Good News

What a nice "fuck you" this has been to Donald Trump and those who doubt what President Obama is capable of.

Repealed!

Congratulations to Barack Obama and all Americans, gay & straight, serving in the military or not. The repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell is historic and so important! I'm so happy we finally ended this discriminatory law. My nieces some day will ask what the big deal was!

And on another note, I hope the Senate ratifies the New START treaty with Russia. They would give the President 3 very strong wins in this lame duck session of Congress. 4 huge victories when you include Health Care reform.

However, I think the tax cuts for the wealthy is bull shit. But the employment insurance extension was hugely important. I crack up when the Republicans bitch about it. No one gets rich off unemployment!

DADT

Barrack Obama to the gay community - "Just kidding! Sorry guys, DADT is back on the books!"

I'm extremely disappointed with the President. Over 80% of Americans are for the repeal of this law. Just fucking do it already! Bypass Congress with an executive order. We all know the law will not be repealed if the Republicans take the House. But sure enough, the President and the Democratic party will be knocking on the doors of the gay community in 2012 asking for money. Don't call me, you're not getting shit! We're tired of you whispering sweet nothings in our ear and providing squat!

Below is an angry Lt. Dan Choi on CNN.

Bravo President Obama!

Today, President Obama made history (again!) and signed the most sweeping reform of our financial regulations since the great depression. Too bad it took so long (thank you obstructionists!). Now how about ending DADT, DOMA, pass immigration reform (with support for LGBT partners!), and comprehensive climate control legislation.

Sucks to be Obama huh? The past president left him with a pile of shit to fix!

Finally! Congratulations President Obama!!

Finally! After 70+ years of trying, health care reform comes to the United States of America!!

And on top of that, student loan reform along with it! (the bill was attached to the reconciliation bill)

This is probably one of the most important pieces of legislation in history! Woo hoo!

Wow, Scary!

These ignorant dumb fucks are the reason why our founding fathers created the Electoral College! They were afraid of the tyranny of the majority. OMG, if they ran the country we'd be fucked! I love when the interviewer challenges them and they're unable to explain their thoughts. It's amazing how people make shit up.

People who compare President Obama to Hitler or his health care reform plan to socialism have never studied who Hitler was or what socialism is! Obama and his plan are anything but!

I Saw President Obama!

Unfortunately, President Barack Obama was in Boston for Sen. Ted Kennedy's funeral. Sad because "Uncle Teddy" was quite the guy! The mass was about 2 blocks from my work. I got word that Huntington Avenue was being shut down for a few minutes. I knew this meant the President was coming down this way. Sooo . . . he drove right by and looked right at us!! Here are a few pics of his car and motorcade. Pretty amazing how much security he has to travel with.

Barney Frank's Smackin 'em Down!

This is U.S. Representative Barney Frank, Democrat from Massachusetts response to a woman who compares President Barack Obama to a Nazi over this health care squabble.

Well done Congressman!

The Beer Summit

Well, I certainly hope yesterdays meeting between Harvard Professor Gates, Sgt. Crowley of the Cambridge, MA Police Department and President Obama will put this incident behind us. I think the media has blown this incident way out of the water and used these two men as guinea pigs.

Good beer choices all around, but I'm with professor Gates on the Sam Adams Light . . . yum! And Sgt. Crowley - you're one heck of a handsome man!

Finally, Some Progress!

Today, the Senate killed the amendment to the defense appropriations bill which would have provided an additional $1.75 billion dollars for additional F-22 fighter planes. This is significant because President Obama had threatened to veto the bill. A veto would have killed the best part of this bill - the Matthew Shepard Act aka the hate crimes bills.

With successful passage from the Senate, the bill goes to the President for his signature. Hate crimes based upon sexual orientation will now be illegal! FINALLY some progress! Democrats have been trying to pass this bill for years.

The President has promised to sign the bill.

Growing More Concerned with Obama

The recent U.S. Government defense of the "Defense of Marriage Act" (I still want to know what we're defending marriage from) equating same sex relationships to incestuous relationships has really pissed me off. I'm growing more concerned about the Obama administration and if we'll ever get equal rights during his presidency.

I get it . . .we're in a economic slump and he's trying to pass the most sweeping health care bill in history in addition to climate change legislation. But at least show some movement on this shit!

The New York Times is reporting an announcement from the White House today in which the President will provide some benefits to federal employees. Thanks for the carrot Barrack, but we're tired of table scraps and what a seat at the table with the full buffet!

Obama's Speech

Barack Obama's speech was excellent and so inspiring. Here are a few of my favorite lines:

And for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that, "Our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken. You cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you."

As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our founding fathers faced with perils that we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake.

This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed, why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall. And why a man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.

America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words; with hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come; let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

God Bless the USA

Words cannot describe how proud I am to be an American today. For the 44th time we choose the ballot box over a box of bullets and violence and swore in a new president. An African American president this time! I never thought I'd live to see the day (and I'm young!)! Good luck and God bless Barack Obama, 44th President of the United State of America!

Now get to work B! We've got starving kids out there!

I Shook His Hand

Being tall has its benefits. In November 2005, Barack Obama was in Boston campaigning for Deval Patrick, Democratic candidate for Governor. I went to this rally and took many pictures. For some reason, they're small and I don't know how to fix them.

But any way, I was able to reach over the heads of the people in front of me and reach over to Obama as he shook hands on the line and yes, I shook his hand. Our new President's hand!! Oh and I also yelled "Barack, run for President". Few months later he did...I pushed Obama to run! (kidding of course!)
