Buyer Beware

The news media is obsessed with covering the upcoming midterm elections. I'm scared that this mob of "angry people" or tea party-iers will cost us significant long term progress as they "vent" their frustrations at the President and the current Congress.

Republicans keep saying they'll do a better job. Um, really? Let's not forget, the Republican Party held both houses of Congress and the White House from 2001 to 2006 and turned a record budget SURPLUS into record deficits. So much for fiscal conservatism!

We have significant challenges ahead of us as a nation that require tough choices. Extending tax cuts for the wealthy 3% of Americans should not be an option. The Republicans bitch about the stimulus because it isn't paid for. Well, neither was George W. Bush's tax cuts.

I don't want to go back to the way it was before Obama. So I'm voting for my democratic incumbents even if I'm disappointed about the lack of progress on the gay rights front.

I'm right there with you but don't get too down if the elections don't turn out the way we hope.

History is not on our side. Presidents who are elected into office with control of the Congress, historically suffer significant mid-term election set-backs.

Lets just cross our fingers now and hope.
