Sad Day in California

Today, by a 6 - 1 vote, the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, banning same sex marriage in California. The 18,000 marriages will stay valid.

Wow, BULL SHIT! The will of the people in California can now take away the rights of a minority group. So much for protecting minority groups from the tyranny of the majority.

California will definitely loose it's status of the progressive leader for GLBT people. By the time this gets rescinded New York, New Jersey, and New Hampshire will have legalized gay marriage. I don't think the state seems as appealing anymore for me to move to some day.

But kudos to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, and Maine for protecting and extending civil rights for all.
